Inverse Problems
MAC scientists are experts in developing creative solutions for Inverse Problems, i.e.,
problems in which model parameters must be obtained empirically from observed data. These problems arise in any sensing
applications in which interaction with an intervening medium, such as the atmosphere, influences the values being measured.
Inverse problems are typically ill posed -- small measurement errors produce large parameter estimation errors. Applications
areas in which solving the Inverse Problem may be beneficial include signal and image denoising, deconvolution and
deblurring.
