Michigan Aerospace Corporation is pleased to announce the ongoing development of a machine learning based software tool called RECONN.ai for use in the identification and classification of wildlife in camera trap imagery. This platform, targeted for use by wildlife research professionals, is currently in the beta test phase with a variety of Midwest-based users. It was designed as a holistic platform that allows for the upload, organization, storage, and export of image and resultant data, along with the ability to streamline the often-time-consuming process of review and annotation, all with the added benefit of using ML to assist in locating and classifying those species within a given image. It’s MAC’s intent to use this beta test phase to continue the growth and predictive power of our species dataset, harness user feedback to fine-tune our site before full launch, and to inform our planning for future releases.
